Introduction to The
School of Automation Science and Electrical Engineering
The School of Automation Science and Electrical
Engineering(SASEE) of
Beihang
University
was formerly The
Department of Automatic Control founded in August 1960 and The
Department of Aircraft Equipment founded in August 1954. SASEE now
consists of five Departments and two educational experiment centers: The
Department of Automatic Control, The Department of Electromechanical
Engineering, The Department of Electrical Engineering, The Department of
Measurement and Automation Equipment, The Department of Information and
Control, The Educational Experiment Center for Electricity and Electronics
and The Educational Experiment Center for Measurement and
Control.
Currently there are many outstanding faculty members
in the SASEE. Among them, there are one academician of Chinese
Academy
of Engineering, two yang
outstanding professors awarded the title of ¡°Changjiang scholar¡±, 37 full
professors (30 of them are supervisors of Doctoral candidates) and 66
associate professors. In addition, three academicians of Chinese Academy of Science and two
academicians of
Chinese
Academy
of
Engineering hold concurrent professorship post in SASEE.
At present, the total enrollment of students in SASEE
is 2355, including 1400 undergraduate students , 660 Master candidates,
275 Doctor candidates and 20 foreign students.
There are 2 Bachelor degree
programs(Automation and Electrical Engineering), 7 Master degree programs
and 4
Doctor degree programs offered
in SASEE.
SASEE has been authorized to offer graduate student degrees in one
first level speciality (Automation Science and Engineering) and 7
secondary specialities ( Navigation Guidance and Control, Control theory
and Engineering, Measurement and Automation Equipment,
Electromechanical Engineering, Pattern Recognition and Intelligent
Control, Electrical and power transmission and Television and
Writng.)Among them the first 4 secondary specialities have been authorized
to offer Doctor degree programs and Master degree programs, and other 3
secondary specialites can only offer Master degree programs. The
speciality of Navigation Guidance and Control is ranked as a key
speciality in
China
.
The task of SASEE is to meet the challenge of worldwide
competition of innovation in science and technology as well as the
requirement of national economic development, to accelerate the
advancement in information technology research and related advanced level
personnel¡¯s training , to promote the interdisciplinary interaction. The
fulfillment of its task will lead to more contribution to the national
economy and defense and to the training of more high quality
professionals.

Professor Li,
Bo Hu,
He
was born in
Shanghai
in Nov.27, 1938.
He
graduated from the Computer Science Department of Tsinghua University in
1961. During 1980-1982,He was a visiting scholar of the
University of
Michigan and UCLA in
USA
.
He is
a member of
Chinese
Academy of Engineering and a
doctor supervisor /the dean of the
Institute of
Automation
Science and Electron Engineering in Beijing
University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is also the deputy director
of the Science & Technology Committee of the
Second
Academy
in China Aerospace Science
& Industry Corporation.
He is
the president of Chinese Association for System Simulation, a member of
the board of directors in the Chinese Society of System Engineering, the
vice director of Manufacturing Committee in the Chinese Society of
Automation and the vice director of Industrial Engineering Committee in
the Chinese Society of Electronics.
He
was a member of the Expert Steering Committee of Automation Area in the
China High Tech & Research Plan 863 and the head of 5th China High Tech & Research Plan 863/CIMS Subject Expert Steering
Committee. He was the president of Beijing Institute of Computer
Application & Simulation Technologyand
the president of
Beijing
Simulation
Center
.
He
authored or co-authored 150 papers, 11 books and 4 translated books in the
fields
of modeling and simulation , concurrent engineering and contemporary
integrated manufacturing
system(CIMS).
He
has got two prizes from China Science Convention, one first
class scientific
advancement award and one second class scientific advancement award from
China
State
, fourteen
scientific advancement awards from the Chinese Aerospace and Astronautics
Ministry.
He
served for several international conferences as a member/chairman of
international
program committee/organization committee.
He is
a member of Advisory Committee of the international journal ¡° Simulation
Theory & Practice ¡±and was a member of the director committee of the
Society of System Simulation International.
His
recent research areas are distributed simulation, virtual prototyping,
concurrent
engineering and contemporary integrated manufacturing
system.
